Neuropsychological Services provides comprehensive consultation, evaluation and intervention services via a holistic view of the individual. For the Geriatric patient Neuropsychological Services can provide information of the strengths and weaknesses in a person's cognitive abilities and emotional state. Assessment can determine degrees of dementia and identify potential red flags.

Neuropsychological Test Profile: “Upper Brainstem”

Disinhibition of:

  • External stimuli (ie., distractible, short attention span, etc.)

  • Internal stimuli (ie., tactile sensitivity, perseveration, etc.)

  • Motor responses (ie., fidgeting, restless, hyperactive, etc.)

Poor cortical rhythm or “tone” (ie., irritable, low frustration tolerance)

Poor “select” functions (ie., difficulties switching mental sets, poor multi-tasking, over-selection/under-selection, etc.)

  • Metabolic disorder secondary to systemic disorder

  • Toxic disorder secondary to medications

  • ransient factors (ie., cardiac, UTI, etc.)
