Neuropsychological Services provides comprehensive consultation, evaluation and intervention services via a holistic view of the individual. For the Geriatric patient Neuropsychological Services can provide information of the strengths and weaknesses in a person's cognitive abilities and emotional state. Assessment can determine degrees of dementia and identify potential red flags.

Neuropsychological Assessments

Comprehensive “psychological” (social/environmental) evaluations include:

  • Review of physician- and  nursing home staff generated medical records

  • Social history

  • Nursing home environment observations

  • Nursing home staff interviews

Comprehensive neuro- (brain-related) evaluations that include assessment of:

  • Lower level executive functions (ie., attention/concentration, switching sets,
    inhibition, etc.)

  • Learning/memory (ie., acquisition of new information)

  • Verbal (ie., expressive and receptive language skills, processing of verbal
    information, etc.)

  • Perceptual-motor (ie., sensory input, motor output and sensorimotor
    integration)

  • Higher level executive functions (ie., abstract reasoning, novel problem
    solving, planning, organization, etc.)
