Whether difficulty is found in school, home, work or social settings Neuropsychological Services can help examine and diagnose any potential problems, direct a holistic solution aiding in the construction of a positive and productive life. Clinical services for youth, adolescents, adults and geriatrics cover known and suspected brain disorders, psychological disorders and, brain trauma disorders.

Clinical Services

The mission of Neuropsychological Services is provision of comprehensive consultation, assessment and intervention services that utilize a holistic view of the individual to facilitate understanding of “neuro” (brain-related) and “psychological” (environmental, historical, etc.) factors along with moderator variables that mediate the expression of presenting problems/symptoms.  Consultation/assessment services:

  • Mirror and respond to the needs of our community
  • address the questions of referral sources (i.e., parents/families, physicians, schools, etc.)
  • actively incorporate a multidisciplinary team approach (i.e., family, physicians, schools, etc.)
  • result in development of intervention plans via comprehensive reports
  • provide a mechanism for evaluation/monitoring of the effects of treatments and interventions

Clinical Services for Adults

Studies have consistently shown that untreated neuropsychological (i.e., learning disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, post-concussion syndrome, etc.) and psychological disorders (i.e., depression, anxiety, stress-related illnesses, etc.): (a) are among the leading causes of visits to primary care physicians, (b) are the leading cause of missed days of work and (c) result in prolongation of illnesses and hospital stays.

Clinical Services for Geriatrics

Studies have consistently shown that untreated neuropsychological (i.e., dementia, cognitive disorders, etc.) and psychological disorders (i.e., depression, anxiety, stress-related illnesses, etc.): (a) are among the leading causes of visits to primary care physicians and (b) result in prolongation of illnesses and hospital stays.

Clinical Services for Children & Adolescents

Challenges facing our communities

  • 15-20% of children present with learning disabilities
  • 20% of children meet criteria for diagnosis of ADD/ADHD
  • an estimated 5% of children present with known central nervous system disorders secondary to either congenital of perinatal causes
  • 20% of all children may experience some type of psychiatric disorder
  • 20-50% of children with one disorder experience a second co-morbid disorder
